Late 1920s to 30s butterfly and spider hand beaded evening purse in black velvet on ivorine frame

Wonderful handmade evening purse, black beaded and fringed velvet on ivorine (faux ivory) frame, lined in a pretty floral silk satin.

The bag is decorated with a ‘spider’ in a cut steel web on one side, and a butterfly to the other surrounded by beaded scrolling wings. 

Glass beads have been used for the spider, and the butterfly’s body is pressed gilt metal with original eau de nil paint to tip.

Measures:  

Body of bag is approx 7.5” x 7.5” (not including frame or fringe)

Condition: 

No missing fringe, all beads appear intact. There a a handful of rusty steel beads in the centre of the ‘web’ as shown. It is homemade, and some stitching isn’t perfect where it attaches to the frame but overall it’s all neat and secure. It’s been one of my favourite purchases this year!
