1950s to 1960s violet-covered novelty hat with velvet trim - Marshall and Snelgrove
Rather striking hat from Marshall and Snelgrove, featuring two shades of what look to me like artificial violets, on a net ground. Rear velvet 'tassels' feature flowers to ends.
Condition: Overall good, the paler flowers do show a little age foxing (last photo). Two layers of fine tulle over the sturdier net base/ground show rubbing to the edges of top layer, unseen when worn.
Under band approx 22”.
Should fit most average heads as sits to the back bonnet style, rather than around crown.
