Boutique 1970s reptile trimmed high waisted set - purchased at Diana Warren
The lady I bought this from had originally purchased it from Diana Warren’s in the 70s. I went through a phase of looking for things retailed by Diana Warren, as the Blackpool boutique would retail high end items but remove the labels, adding their own.
This has no labels as I’m guessing if they were glued in place - you can see where they were attached in both skirt and waistcoat. It’s a really stylish set, with high waisted pale blue grey suede skirt and cropped sleeveless bolero, both trimmed in what looks like snakeskin. The trim has a cloud or deco influenced shape to the edges - very much shaped like the snakeskin trim Ossie Clark was using briefly in the late 60s.
The skirt fastens at the rear with a nylon zip, and the bolero is an edge to edge style open at the front. There’s a front slit to the skirt edges in snakeskin.
I wish I knew who had designed it as it’s really rather good and very 70s boutique glam.. I’ve worn it only once and it’s very flattering, as the suede is supple yet creates a smooth silhouette!
bust 34” laid flat (but can be worn open)
waist 27” max
hips 40” max
Front split is 13”
As shown there are a number of light marks to the suede, and some darkening around the edges. There is one more notable ‘mark’ to the skirt as seen in the photo.
I’ve removed the dry cleaning labels (tag for them still visible in one photo).
The front split had a seam separation for approx 3” and has been repaired to the back so it is now together again - see photo.
Its immediately wearable as it comes.
