Vintage mole coloured cotton velvet drop waisted 1920s sleeveless day dress

A very wearable modern shape, this drop waisted 1920s day dress features russia trim to the neckline, waist, and armholes. Simple notch tie neck.

It is shown over a modern mustard jersey top for display, to demonstrate its wearability as part of the modern wardrobe! (Not included, sorry!)

It’s labelled ‘Worrall’s Dye’, but no manufacturers label so perhaps a manufacturers sample? It’s a simple finish to the construction but certainly commercially made. 
There is a hint of a print or weave in the velvet, faint traces of hieroglyphics if you look very closely! 

Measures: Approx a modern UK 10/12?

Bust approx 38”

Waist measures 36”

Hips fairly free at 44”

Length from nape to hem approx 42”

Condition: Generally good, with no bald spots. There were originally chiffon sleeves (3/4 length) which had perished and have therefore been removed, but it can be worn as a pinafore dress, as demonstrated in the photographs. 

There was an old hand done repair to waist seam which I have since had professionally repaired on the machine.. 

It’s clean, strong and wearable.
