Vintage 1930s floral painterly print robe or wrapper by Asgan
C.1930s floral rayon crepe elegant house robe in a rayon crepe, with a really fabulous painterly floral print on a wedgewood blue ground. Maker is Asgan, with a registered design no. 500696 - this is the second robe I’ve had made by the company, but can’t seem to find any info on maker (although I’ve not searched extensively!)
Design features scalloped edge shawl collar, wrap front with additional press stud to preserve modesty! There are piped cuffs, with ruched detail at the end of wide sleeves. Self fabric tie waist and matching belt, and rhs patch pocket.
I now realise I should have photographed with the tie belt at natural waist but for some reason I didn’t! Will try and add an extra photo.
Condition: Still strong and wearable but selling this as is, with minor flaws - please see photos.
Original LH underside of collar an original historic darn, unseen when worn. Some slight fade to shoulders (and a little at cuffs?)
Scattered holes to collar, luckily double layers means not obvious. There are some scuffs to sleeve head, fluffy bits at seam, odd scattered mark mainly hidden in busy print. Just handwashed, however, and ready to wear as it comes.
When laid flat and fastened (wrapped over) with snap. I’d go by hip measurement, so up to a UK 12?
Waist 34” (tie to fit)
Length nape to hem just under 49”
