1920s vintage fortune teller costume skirt - zodiac symbols and lamé creatures!
Another from one of my 'collections' which I am gradually trying to reduce..
c.1920s or possibly a little earlier, this had been in the family of the lady I purchased it from for as long as she could remember. I imagine it would have been worn with a white 'gypsy' style blouse and shawl, so should be fairly easy to replicate (should you wish!)
The waistband is a replacement I think. The skirt is a felted wool type, and looks like it's been made from an old edwardian one. The bottom panel is decorated with zodiac signs, and the front of the skirt has gold metallic creatures, and what looks like the remains of a paper snake!
Please see photo's - various old moth holes scattered throughout as shown (freezer treated)
replacement waistband as noted
Lizard damaged as noted
