vintage Alistair Cowin 1970s golden cut velvet brocade maxi coat
vintage Alistair Cowin 1970s golden cut velvet brocade maxi coat
A reluctant sale, this really is a very dramatic and flattering maxi coat from the British boutique ('Way-In') designer Alistair Cowin. In an antique gold brocade/cut velvet, it is a very seventies shape with quite a fitted cut at the top.
Double breasted with original moonglow buttons. Full lined in a tonal rayon acetate.
I do actually have a vintage sofa covered in almost identical fabric, and the coat is really quite thick and weighty material - definitely one for autumn/winter!
I have only worn it a couple of times and I'm loathe to part, but needs must, and I just can't keep things I rarely wear as I need to resist the hoarder in me..
Measures:
I would say it best fit a modern 8, or possibly a 10 if you don't want to wear anything too thick underneath. I managed as a 10, the sleeves were just a bit snug - but I don't have the requisite 1970s boutique width narrow upper arms in the slightest! Too much carrying laundry bags around.
Bust 36" with darts
Waist 30" (to fit up to 28/29 MAX best)
Hips max 38"
Shoulder to hem 52" approx
Underarm to cuff 17"
Condition: Very good, has been recently cleaned. Marks to label is only real thing to note, which didn't lift. There are a couple of old marks to the lining where I am pointing. The lining itself is undamaged and underarms good.
Ready to wear!
