Vintage Alfred Shaheen two piece printed trouser or pant suit - 1960s
A wonderful rich jewel toned set from Alfred Shaheen, with a gold screen printed oriental design of pagodas etc.
The blouse is button back with 3/4 sleeves, and the gold screen printed design to bust. It's nicely cut so it curves at the side to sit at waist hight at the front but be longer in back (the wearer's stomach still covered by the high waisted trousers).
The trousers are fantastic poolside wide-leg trousers, with curved side splits extending 12" up the side seam at their highest. The golden screenprint surrounds the bottom of the trousers.
The RN (registered design number) is definitely 1960s. I've seen similar sets with a variation on the theme dated the same. The shape of the top is very 60s, and the covered buttons have metal backs. The trousers zip up the back with a metal zip. I think this has seen very little wear, as the colours are still bright and labels show little wear.
Bust 36" plus darts
Waist 32" (not fitted, hangs down to back)
Shoulder to hem 17" longest
Underarm to cuff 9"
Hips max 38
Front rise 13.5"
Inseam nearly 27"
Very good. Only real flaw to note is tiny pin hole or snag to material (see pic) to the back left of zipper placket. You have to look carefully. As mentioned above I think these have not seen much wear!
