Original gold lamé 1920s beaded jacket. The geometric design is wonderfully colourful, and reminds me of Liquorice allsorts. No closures, it’s designed to be worn open or edge to edge and is roughly hip length.

The sleeves have that slightly flared/pagoda shape with a deeper curve to one side of the cuff you see in this decade.

Measures: it’s fairly flexible as worn open or edge to edge. Up to U.K. 12?

Nape to hem length is approx 26”
Bust 40”
Sleeve length head to hem 23/24”

Condition:

Initial impression is good, with the majority of all beadwork intact as far as I can tell. Integrity of fabric seems good. I would I say it is immediately wearable, I have not cleaned. Inevitably after around a century, it does have some imperfections:
- on closer inspection there is some tarnish/ variations in tone, light underarm tarnish/discolour, odd small discoloured spots. I’ve tried to photograph everything - please just ask if you want me to email you the individual photos (had to collage them to fit!)
- Two small breaks I found in weave of fabric
- Historic mend to rear lower LH side..( could be disguised by adding more beads? But it’s not too bad)
- Tarnish inner neckline and back not as visible externally - please see all photos as have shown both internal and external.
- Underarm inserts added historically to give extra room to upper arm- but crease/fold in on themselves if not needed so do not necessarily affect cut.
