A medium sized piano shawl, prettily embroidered Canton style, with macrame cotton fringed edging and tassels. Embroidery is tonal, a nice pale cream or rich ivory silk. A square shaped panel, but with gently curved corners. Lots of tiny hand done stitches!
I do think this is a silk rather than rayon, and more likely Edwardian than 1920s as feels slightly earlier - similar to the Edwardian tasseled capes.
Would make a beautiful wedding accessory for a bride!
Measures:
42” square approx
2 inch hand knotting, plus 2 and a bit inch fringe (so a little over 4” total edging)
Condition:
Very good, with very minimal marks as shown in vey last photo. Integrity of fabric good.
