Sapphire blue velvet top, appears to have been re-worked historically from an earlier model (previously evening gown?) - quite possibly wartime renovation as alterations are also very vintage!

A lovely shape, bias cut with extended shoulder strap detail, which adds sleeve interest. This is echoed in the curved strap panel detail with peplum gathering, at the waist..

There are side snaps to fasten, and a beaded peter pan collar and corset style front opening   - whilst still vintage, the collar and neckline 'grommets' appear to be alterations. All have been well done, with bias tape to hems etc. There are however stray threads to selvedges etc, and general evidence of it having been played about with - also various small mends. Please see photos.

Velvet at neckline is silk I think and older. Could easily be replaced with sets of glass buttons maybe? if too fussy with bow. Or you could remove collar, which I think is also a salvaged earlier item. Nice detail though.

Measures:  Side opening so can be a pain - I’d say UK8 to be safe.

Bust 38” max

Waist approx 26"

Hips n/a

Length from shoulder to hem approx 20"

Underarm to cuff approx 20"

Condition:

Overall impression is good, however please note there are a number of small worn spots to velvet as shown which have been stitched, marks to inner collar, odd pulled seam.  As mentioned above it’s very much a make do and mend!

It's otherwise completely wearable and integrity of fabric is still good.
