antique leather unusual 1920s Egyptian revival strap or hip belt with decorative cabochons
Unusual decorative leather strap - or belt? with fancy gilt metal hardware decorated with glass cabochons. I believe the cabochons are probably Gablonz or at least European in the Egyptian revival style - a stylised ‘hieroglyphic’ design.
I have added a gilt metal double buckle which will work as a fastener. I haven’t liked to permanently fix it by pinching the loops, in case you want to use it as a strap. I’m really not sure what it was used for originally! It’s really well made.
Measures:
Length 36” x 1 and 3/4” deep. The buckle addition is another 2.5” (so 38.5” if you attach my buckle provided)
Condition:
Generally good, some wear to reverse if leather belt but it is very thick so still strong and useable. Please see photos.
