Vintage Arts and Crafts style hand embroidered linen tunic or duster jacket
I’ve owned this for some years and love it, but have never quite been able to work it out date wise! I shall leave it for someone else to work out - some real Arts and Crafts details, but also has a traditional folk clothing look. I’d say it’s 1970s at latest, but could be earlier.
I think I wore it on a handful of occasions as a duster coat over jumpers, as it’s a good layering item. Three button fastening with loops, and kimono cut means it’s fairly free sized.
Condition:
Some age/very old storage lines to centre of sleeves and corner of bottom hem, have carefully handwashed cool a few times and did improve gradually - may continue to lift. Always too scared to do anything aggressive to it cleaning wise! I happily wore as is, it’s not glaringly obvious.
Missing blanket stitch at sleeve hems and around neckline, but majority intact. Please see photos.
Replacement vintage buttons, as originals were missing when I got it and it just had the old thread loops. (I kept meaning to swap for something natural like wooden ones but never got around to it.)
