1920s vintage costume piece - striped seersucker romper dungarees suspender style
A great piece of early 20c costume, but could easily be worn as a summer piece! 1920s/1930s, but I think more likely 20s at the height of costume parties!
Pantaloon suspender style romper, pleated onto a high waistband with wide self fabric straps. Seersucker fabric in palest blue and white candy stripe.
Side opening with snaps, decorative patch pockets with chain embroidery at pocket mouth. Elasticated bottoms. Good fun!
Straps are lined in fine white cotton, you could potentially add length if required - see internal photo. Body of outfit unlined.
Measures:
Bust n/a
High waist 28", fastens both sides with snaps.
Hips free
Length from shoulder to hem approximately 48"
Inseam approx 18"
Condition:
Structurally sound and wearable. There is some staining - I have hand washed and removed a good deal, but could soak further or fold and resew fabric to disguise some quite easily particularly on pockets and mark on edge of pleat .. I just haven’t the patience this week!
Please see all photos.
Small historic hand done repair to waistband. One small pull in weave to back. No other damage and very wearable structurally.
