vintage 1970s designer Raksha of Hindip - London Indian print maxi dress
I’ve had a couple of beautiful dresses designed by ‘Raksha of Hindip’ - they seem to be hippy luxe, or a high end version of the 1970s indian print dress, stocked at exclusive boutiques of the day.
This is a tailored number, fully lined, and fastening to the front with a metal zipper. I purchased with the belt shown but not sure it’s original - no belt loops.
Very much maxi length, a really striking dress with shirt style bodice and full skirt box pleated at the waist. Fine cotton organdie, lined in a bright green muslin.
Measures: labelled a vintage 16 - modern 10/12 uk?
Bust 38“ including darts
Waist 30 and belts smaller up to approx 26
Hips 42”
Length from nape to hem 58”
nape to waist 16”
underarm to cuff 19”
Condition:
Dress is excellent, bar an annoying little spot of damage to reverse side of zipper placket where fabric must have caught in the zip at some point. It’s unseen when fastened so I’ve not attempted to repair or disguise.
Belt backing is cracking but functions fine. It’s a manmade jersey type belt, hence me questioning whether it came with the dress but may as well include as goes well!
Resisted the temptation to have this turned into a trouser suit for myself...
