1970s vintage Angela Gore tiered maxi dress with balloon sleeves
Bold and cheerful patchwork print maxi dress, with high waist and sash style half belt to rear (tie to fit). Wonderfully full sleeves are doubled layered and semi-opaque, with frilled elasticated cuffs to match the high frilled collar.
Fastens to the centre back with a metal zipper. I think this may be an early label, as the others I've had have been later in style, and more commercial looking - this is simply the designers name on a woven tape. They're always quite interesting dresses style and/or print wise. A designer who I wish I knew more about but have never managed to - dresses were often featured in high fashion magazines of the period, and were not cheap - and seemingly becoming quite collectible.
Measures: a vintage size 16, probably up to and including modern UK 12 (shown unclipped but tied at waist on size 8)
Bust measured flat is 40" - includes all bust room
Waist (high) 32" - tie to fit smaller
Hips up to 46" easily as flared shape
Length from nape to hem 54"
Generally very good.
- There is some very minor wash fade and very light pilling near underarm (so I assume a polycotton), but it is clean and immediately wearable.
- small hole to lining where it has caught at underarm, unseen.
