1970s vintage Jean Varon slinky backless black evening dress - small flaws
A useful black evening dress from well regarded 1970s label Jean Varon. Fitted bodice and plunging scoop back, with full length sleeves and maxi length skirt. Flattering panelled construction.
Fastens to the rear with a concealed metal zipper, so I’d date it to the earlier 1970s. Snaps to close at wrist.
Shown with corsage for inspiration but not included - available separately!
Measures: Approx a modern UK 10
Bust measures approx max 32”, should be some leeway due to backless style and slightly stretchy fabric.
Waist measures 25” but stretches to 27” (28” max but would be taut!)
Hips fairly free size
Length from nape to hem approx 57”
Condition: Generally good and immediately wearable, however two flaws as shown;
- one small almost-but-not-quite tear caused by heel catching no doubt, to bottom hem. I think the least intrusive thing to do to it is nothing. I found it when I held the dress to the light, it’s not really evident otherwise.
- small hole to the under/front side of left sleeve, could be backed?
There is the odd catch in the fabric which could be poked back through. Priced accordingly!
