antique 19c Victorian mourning cap with floral decoration
A rather charming little mourning cap or bonnet, with watered silk lappets to fasten.
The cap consists of two layers of chantilly style lace gathered into circlets to form an informal cap, with wonderful floral decoration to crown. I assume this can be pinned to cover gap if desired once the crown is pinned in place.
Approx 12” across lace laid flat, and flowers are 5” approx across
Good, particularly considering age. There are a couple of small holes and breaks in the fine net as pictured, but it’s still very wearable or display worthy.
