c.1900s antique paste buckle choker on velvet ribbon
A rather good choker, on old black velvet. The back of the buckle section is marked ‘made in France’, and is a pot metal. Quite a showstopper, a great costume accessory!
Approx 13 1/2” when fastened. New owner could adjust if required by unpicked stitching to enlarge, as plenty of spare ribbon (easily an inch each side) if required. Similarly could be reduced.
Fits my fairly average neck as demonstrated (probably won’t wear with 70s knitted wool dress like me, apologies but too cold for glamour today!)
Paste section is approx 3 1/2” wide x 1 1/4” high
The ribbon is antique and shows a little wear but is strong.
The paste section is secure, fastens fine. On closer inspection there is some old glue evident (brown seen by the paste) and I noticed a small chip. Luckily it’s overshadowed by the paste itself, as it really is very very sparkly! None missing.
