pure new wool vintage early 1970s palazzo pant suit in soft grey with blanket check
Purchased many years ago now for myself from the lovely Maggie (denisebrain) in the US, this wonderful early 1970s all in one palazzo style pant suit. It’s a blanket weight wool.
With full length sleeves, a jewel neckline, fitted bodice in a mid grey meets the oversized blanket check trousers at a slightly high waistline.
They are cut in an extremely wide ankle length flare (mannequin a little short)
Both bodice and trousers are lined in a rayon acetate, the sleeves are not. Fastens to the rear with a cb nylon zip.
Perfect for the current season, I will miss it and resolved not to try it when I pulled it out of its tissue!
Measures: Approx a modern UK8/10
Bust 34" or 36” total at a push including cup room
Waist best for 26" (actual measurement 27” )
Hips 38"
Rise 15"
Waist to hem outside leg 39"
Bodice length approx 15"
Condition:
Generally very good, and immediately wearable
- very minor yellowing to lining at neckline, and pen mark (see picture). I’ve always just handwashed and haven’t attempted to spot treat. Underarms are fine and undamaged with just very slight whiteness pictured but minimal.
- small catch in yarn left side bust point
- small darn lower left leg towards hem as shown (could probably be better done but trousers so full not too obvious)
- small break in weave left hip.
There are some snip-able threads to selves get in trousers which I have left as could use for a stitch repair if needed.
