This is a rather fun number - I love the deco pattern. I’m dating it to c.1930s because of the side snaps, and little chiffon edged neckline. Not immaculate but still has a sparkly charm!

It’s a crepe-like jacquard woven fabric which does have some give because of the weave, I do know I know the name but it somehow escapes my lockdown brain! It’s not quite a matalesse but is slightly textured. probably best to see the photos..

Sleeves are shaped with darts, and are 3/4 length. Skirt appears to have been shaped with darts, and are three-quarter length. I’m not sure if it’s been altered from an earlier style. It gathers at the cuff with an inverted pleat, which buttons with matching self covered buttons.

The skirt does appear to have been altered at some point, possibly just let out as there are ghost lines to the three vertical front seams. I imagine it was originally longer, and slightly fluted. It has been hand hemmed with cotton bias type.

I think would have looked better on a slightly curvier mannequin, but hopefully you get the idea.

Measures:

Bust 38”

Waist 30”

Hips 42”

Length from nape to hem approx 43.5”

underarm to cuff 13.5”

Condition:

A little bit scruffy. A few small splits to the reverse of the fabric to the bodice – see photos.

Small patch of iron shine to chiffon collar/bow.

Belt loop but no belt.

Alterations to skirt as mentioned above.

Colour variation to the metallic weave in a ‘stripe’ on both sleeves, not hugely obvious. It seems that some of it is more rainbow coloured to the reverse.

Generally it’s showing some signs of age but I would say it is still very wearable as it comes. Priced as found.

Please see all photographs they also form a part of the description.
