Vintage 1930s floral crepe two piece blouse and skirt - asymmetric ruffle peplum

A really rather charming two-piece set, in printed floral crêpe. The blouse or jacket has 3/4 length shaped sleeves, shaping at the elbow crease, and with slightly puffed sleeve-heads. There is an asymmetric ruffled peplum to the front, and it fastens crossover style, with two original covered fabric buttons at front waist.

The skirt is fitted with a Petersham band internally and fastening to the side with snaps. It has two vertical seams to the front, and one central to the rear.

I think the skirt has been adjusted at a later date, as hand hemmed - although it’s still quite a modest length so fairly period appropriate!

Jacket/blouse:

Bust 34” plus some draped cup room

Waist max 26” when fastened without straining the buttons

Hips 36”

Length from nape to hem approx 

Skirt:

waist a fitted 24” at current hook and eye fastening. As it’s popper fastening you could sneak an extra inch with tape if desperate! 

hips up to 38”

length 26” centre front waistband to hem

Condition: 

It is generally very good, with no damage found when held to light. There is some very slight fade - I think from rubbing - to the pattern under the arms, please see photo.

As mentioned above there may have been some alteration to the skirt. There are some ghost stitch marks when held to the light to the sides of the vertical skirt seams, possibly to let it out slightly  - please see photos. Also the hem has been stitched by hand with a small allowance, and I’m not sure that it is original either. 

I think the internal seams have been overlocked at a later date to secure. Has been washed (colour run safe if done with cool water!) and is ready to wear.
