C.1920s vintage Harlequin fancy dress costume all in one
Just need to add a collar, and you've got a perfect outfit for Hallowe'en!
Original earlier 20c harlequin costume, all in one. The shape is fabulously geometric, with exaggerated jodhpur style legs with side stripe. It's constructed from that lovely old cotton sateen in black to the bodice, with checkerboard cotton to the lower half.
Fastens to the centre front behind the ruffled placket, and to the res of the waistband waist with snaps, I've completely forgotten the name for this type of L shaped opening as I'm a bit rusty.. but akin to an edwardian lawn dress! Ankles are fitted a'la johdpurs with metal snaps, and the sides of the legs are trimmed with a black stripe.
I don't think that a collar has been removed, so assume a detachable one was worn. I've shown a photo of the collar edge.
I've just realised I've taken an unnecessary amount of photographs, I think I got carried away as I liked it so much..
Measures: The mannequin is a uk8, and I'd say best for uk8 or 10 for ease of access due to fastening.

Front rise on trouser section 13"

Length from shoulder to hem approx 51"
Condition:
There is patchy slightly discolouration to the checkerboard material, have not soaked. Due to busy pattern it's not immediately obvious - but please see photos.
There is an old repair to a rubbed spot, hidden in front thigh fold. Again, please see photos.
There is a the beginnings of a tear at the bottom of the placket opening, which would benefit from some reinforcing stitches as shown
Aside from a missing female side of snap which I will try and remember to replace, it's otherwise a very wearable costume as material still strong.
