1970s vintage plunge front Bernshaw backless maxi dress
Bernshaw historically produced jolly good lookalikes of red carpet dresses, and I have had a few good ones from them. I’ve had this for years but only worn it a few times, and have to accept my waist probably won’t be that small again any time soon!
A fabulous backless halter, with adjustable width on the cups at the neckline - you can reveal more ‘plunge’ if you wish. Outer layer is a semi sheer geometric printed cotton or blend, fully lined a purple acetate. Fastens centre back of the skirt with a nylon zip, to the high waist/ underbust height.
The print is really good!
Measures:
each cup coverage approx 10” at widest
waist to neck front 13.5”
waist to hem 40”
High waist 25”
Condition:
Generally good with no damage, cleans and immediately wearable. Colour of print still good.
I’ve washed then noticed a tiny spot to bust (pointing) which I didn’t spot clean and may come out. The label is a little ruffled. Still very wearable as it comes!
