Pastel yellow Jean Patou vintage 1960s two piece dress and jacket set
Wonderful tailored two piece from Jean Patou, retailed by Harrod’s. Colour is a pastel yellow (lemon/daffodil).
Feels like a wool/silk blend.
Comes complete with original belt, which I haven’t shown in the outfit as I think it looks better without.
Really crisp tailoring. It’s a very good modern size, a vintage 18, so approximately modern 14 UK? It’s too big for my mannequin, so I’ve clipped the dress (but not jacket) although have tried to retain intended lines.
Dress fastens to rear with metal zip.
Bust approx 42” max including all cup room.
Waist 34” comfortably (measures around 35/36”)
Length from nape to hem 40”
I assume if the dress fits the jacket will too - please ask for specific measurements. It is the same length, and the sleeves are 23” from sleeve head seam to cuff.
Good to very good.
There is some fade to the buttons, I didn’t want to change then as original but wouldn’t be too hard to get a match if you wished as not fancy! *I will include the buttons shown in last photo just in case as closest I had, but sure you could get better!
Belt is a bit ‘bumpy’ and leather backing material is slightly separating in places as old adhesive has failed. It’s quite aged - I wonder if it was stored separately as seems a little grubby, compared to dress.
Lose thread to store label.
Very faint discolouration I lining back of dress? See photo.
Couple of small marks where I’m pointing. Faint lines in the weave which I’ve circled (hard to see). - I haven’t cleaned.
It is immediately wearable as it comes, and structurally excellent aside from noted minor belt issue. A desirable label, I’ve tried to price it accordingly looking at sold pieces of the period. Could attempt clean and replace buttons and you’d have a great set if you ignore belt!
