vintage Art Deco fringed gold lamé and tonal purple red half moon fringed piano shawl - figural Indian design deities and elephants
C.1920s half moon fringed soft raspberry and tonal gold lamé geometric weave unusual piano shawl with darker purple and gold lamé figural curved panel at hem with a disk. Golden lamé border to reverse, acts as collar accent.
Deep handknotted multi tone fringe secured by silver metallic tagging.
Panel features scenes of Asian culture (elephants, deity style pipers etc)
These are becoming much harder to find now it seems, as we really do seem to be losing a decade a decade…!
Comes complete with original card gift box (as found - splits to all sides but front image is lovely!)
CB length nape to bottom of fringe 48”
Top straight edge along 56”
Have not cleaned, smells antique when steamed (not damp, just old and a bit metallic as you'd expect!)
Some scattered discolouration/tarnish and specks but no large marks. Please see photos.
Fringe has only minimal tangles
Old Repairs/reinforcements to some areas of curved hem as shown but all is secure.
Small holes as seen when held to light - this seems to be where the shawl has been worn with a pin.
