vintage Ayesha Davar indian printed cotton smock dress c.1970s - a/f
Cut on the lines of a peasant smock in a simple T shape. Indian block print to sleeves which is also repeated to lower hem, and scooped neckline.
One size should fit most as a very accommodating style, with plenty of fabric gathered onto the neckband front and back. The sleeves are full and similarly gathered onto a wrist band, 3/4 length.
Easy to wear!
Measures: should fit a variety of sizes.
Bust 40” max plus plenty of cup room in front gathers
Waist n/a
Hips up to 52” as tent shape
Length from nape to hem approx 42”
underarm to cuff 15”
Condition:
It's slightly imperfect as has had properly machined repair to underarm seam, not obvious when worn.
- There was some yellowing at the underarm to the white cotton, but I have soaked and it has lessened considerably - pretty colourfast so you could keep going, or try some bicarbonate and lemon paste.
- misprinted line in block print
- rub to inside cuffs, unseen when worn
- not sure if original length or shortened? Perfectly neat hem either way, and nice wearable length.
