Vintage horsehide dark brown leather jacket - 30s look - 1960s?
It looks so much better on a model but I’m afraid I can’t both photograph and show you so you just have to take my word for it! A thick chestnut brown leather, I believe it’s made from horsehide - similar to the 1930s and 1940s leather jackets. I think this probably dates from the 1960s Judging by the more fitted cut and front closures, however the style is quite similar. It’s quite a petite fit, so the sleeves are a little short. I wore it once as a UK 8
The jacket features bust darts, a single vent to rear, small collars and front patch pockets which are cotton lined. There are no labels. Externally good with a nice patina, there are some repairs internally to the lining so please see photos.
when laid flat along seams
Hips 38” max
Length from shoulder to hem 22.5”
Underarm to cuff 14”
shoulder seam to seam 14”
External wear to leather with use as expected but no damage.
1” missing stitching under one arm.
interior satin lining has been neatly restitched at seams by hand in a number of places. Bottom popper does fasten but doesn’t always hold fast.
Overall it is immediately wearable as is.
